What does Lorem Ipsum Really Mean?
When you first see this message on a webpage, the most common explanation for this wording is that it is another language that has been added and it needs to be changed. For some, the language that is used may be Italian, French or another language that is being used instead of other customized content. While this may be the initial reaction to what the person sees, the explanation that they believe is not true since the wording ‘lorem ipsum’ is not any other real language, it simply a placeholder. This placeholder can be used for numerous reasons including fresh new content that is written, graphics or an image of a person, place or thing. In either case, this place holder is only intended to designate where content or images can be posted.
Lorem Ipsum Used as a Sample Space for Clients to View
If you are designing a new website for one of your clients and you are using a template to build your design upon, your clients need to know what ‘Lorem Ipsum’ means too. Specifically, when you are doing website mockups to show exactly what you expect each page of the website to look like before it is actually complete. For instance, the clients will know where their content or graphic designs will be posted when completed. So, they can begin to write the content early and will have a relatively accurate amount of space left to relay their messages. With this space holder, the client will also have an opportunity to review the design of the website prior to it being completed.
