Recently I celebrated my first year in business, my revenue was up. I was making investments back into my business and I was forecasting to continue on an upward trend, that is until COVID-19 decided to crash the party.
Many of the small businesses I partner with were hit hard by COVID-19. Several were required to either shut their doors, adapt to curbside delivery or layoff staff.
This undoubtedly reprioritized their budgets, and postponed projects we had planned. Since then I have seen my revenue steadily decline while the last few bits of payments arrive from projects completed prior to COVID-19.
While I’m not a ‘starving artist’ yet…. I understand that we are all in this together. I need to do what I can to help my small business clients. Without them, well… I would not be able to do what I do today. I’d be working for someone else and likely stuck at home.
Earlier this week, I decided to give each of my web hosting clients three free months of website hosting. While I do not have the deep pockets many other companies have, after all, I am a small business owner, and an army of one. It’s something I wanted to do for my clients. It may be a small offering to a single client, but, its collective value is $1151.70… That’s $1151.70 that is back in the pockets of our small business owners. That’s quite a bit for a small business like myself. I hope that my good will inspires other small businesses to give back and help make sure that the community we live in rebounds quickly and stays strong.
